Artistic Director and conductor of the Moscow Male Jewish Cappella.
He graduated with honors from the P.I Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory, having defended his diploma on the topic “Historical development of Jewish liturgical music”, continued his studies at the Moscow Conservatory’s assistant internship in the class of choral conducting with a professor B. Kulikov, as well as an assistant internship in symphonic conducting at the Jewish State Academy with Professor V. Kataev.
Since 1989 – co-founder, choirmaster and conductor of the Male Jewish Choir at the Moscow Academy of Cantorial Arts (Moscow Choral Synagogue), since 1997 – artistic director and conductor of the “Hasidic Cappella” (Moscow Jewish Community Center), since 2012 – Moscow Male Jewish Cappella.
Since 1994 – directs the international choir “Moscow Oratorio”.
With the Moscow Male Jewish Cappella, Alexander has prepared many concert programs of Jewish liturgical music, Jewish and Russian folk music, Soviet songs, classical works. In the creative biography of Alexander – participation in many international festivals, more than 1000 concerts at the most prestigious concert venues in the world – the Great and Small Halls of the Moscow Conservatory, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, The Columns Hall, the Kremlin Palace, on the stage of the Munich Academy of Music, in the Alice Tully Hall of the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York, the stage of the Riga Opera House and the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen, the Radio City Hall in Oslo, etc.
Tsalyuk performed at the famous annual “Habad Teleton” in Hollywood.
Alexander has collaborated and is cooperating with outstanding cantors – Mikhail Alexandrovich, Joseph Malovany, Benjamin Miller, Boruch Finkelstein, Yitzhak Meir Helfgot, Moshe Shulkhov, with such ensembles as the Brown University Choir (Rhode Island, USA), the Musica Viva Chamber Orchestra, the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, the Miami Jewish Symphony Orchestra, the Maimonides State Classical Academy Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Symphony Orchestra.
The Cappella under the direction of A. Tsalyuk has repeatedly performed with Joseph Kobzon, fruitfully collaborates with the outstanding singer Tamara Gverdtsiteli, having recorded with her an album of songs in Yiddish accompanied by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra at the “Ton Studio” Cinema company “Mosfilm”.
Currently, Alexander Tsalyuk is an associate Professor of Choral Conducting at the Maimonides Academy of the Kosygin Russian State University.
