Hartmut Rohde

Hartmut Rohde is one of the most sought-after violists in Europe. He is currently the Professor of Viola at Berlin’s renowned University of Arts. He is a founding member of the Kandinsky String Trio as well as the Mozart Piano Quartet. With both ensembles and as a soloist, he frequently tours the USA, Australia, Europe and Korea. In addition, Rohde is a visiting Professor of viola and chamber music at the Royal Academy of Music, London. He has collaborated with many musicians including Bruno Canino, Heinrich Schiff, David Geringas, Thomas Brandis, Janine Jansen, Sharon Kam and the Leipzig String Quartet. He has recorded for EMI, Decca, Arte Nova and Darbinghaus & Grimm. In 2003, he received the prestigious Echo-Classic and Super Sonic awards for the recordings of R. Strauss’ Metamorphoses and Capriccio with the Leipzig String Quartet.
