Pro Arte Piano Quartet

The Pro Arte Piano Quartet was formed in 1989 by principal members of the renowned Academy of St Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble in collaboration with pianist Hamish Milne. Its repertoire includes lesser known quartets by Chausson, Goetz, Granados, Schnittke, Turina, Walton, Douglas Weiland and Sally Beamish (specially commissioned for the Pro Arte) alongside the familiar masterpieces of Beethoven, Brahms, Dvořak, Fauré, Mozart and Schumann. They can be heard on ASV and Chandos labels as well as on Quartz. The Strad commented that “the quartet is a group that – with total musical assurance-quietly produces concerts of exceptional calibre”.
