Vladimir Torchinsky

Israeli composer and performer Vladimir Torchinsky was born in Moscow in 1968 and began playing piano and violin at an early age. Between 1983 and 1987, he studied at the Gnessin State Musical College with the years 1992-95 spent in formal studies of composition and improvisation.

His compositions have been regularly performed over the last 25 years, recorded and broadcast in European countries, Israel, North America and Japan. As a composer and performer, he has taken part in the Reykjavik Art Festival, Eilat Chamber Music Festival, Homecoming Music Festival and others. His compositions have been performed in Tokyo Opera City Hall, Sankt-Petersburg Philharmonic Hall and Tivoli Concert Hal in Copenhagen, Moscow International Music House, Tel Aviv Art Museum and others and recorded on CD by Polydor (Japan), Jerusalem Music Centre and others.

Among performers of his compositions are trumpet player Sergei Nakariakov, Moscow Virtuosoi Orchestra, MusicAeterna Orchestra and conductor Teodor Currentzis, The Twiolins Duo and many others. In 2021 Vladimir Torchinsky received an accolade as an outstanding artist from Israeli Ministry of Immigration and Integration. His works are written for orchestra, choir, chamber ensembles, solo instruments, for stage productions and video art. As a pianist and keyboard player regularly performs programmes of contemporary jazz and improvised music.
